In 2015 I arrived in Australia as an international student. After finishing my studies and spending several years in IT, I realised a 9-to-5 corporate job wasn’t going to give me the freedom or impact I wanted.
So I went back to my roots.
I grew up in Surat – the city that cuts and polishes over 96 % of the world’s diamonds and is home to generations of master goldsmiths. My family and closest connections have been in this industry for decades. The artisans I partner with today are third- and fourth-generation karigars who learned their craft from their fathers and grandfathers.
Instead of opening another retail jewellery store with huge mark-ups, I decided to do something different:
